The San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, wide receiver Quinton Patton and former teammate Ricardo Lockette of the Seattle Seahawks find themselves in an alleged rape case. After waking up in a hospital, an unidentified female claimed she was allegedly raped by Kaepernick and others when partying with them inside a bachelor pad in Miami, Florida. When this story originally linked out across sports media outlets it was reported that Kaepernick, Lockette and Patton administered a rape kit, an anesthetic drug, to sexually assault the unidentified female. The story was quite shocking and disturbing for 49ers fans at first but we are learning more about what occurred that night on April 2 in Miami.
According to new evidences that are now being reported the alleged victim ended up at the hospital, and that it was the NFL players that called the police/ambulance. Based on the police report, Lockette called 911 at 12:03 a.m. on April 2 when an unidentified female refused to leave his shared apartment while she lay naked on a friend’s bed. According to the police report courtesy of The Sacramento Bee:
Miami Fire Rescue personnel transported the 25-year-old woman from the players’ suite at the Viceroy hotel to a downtown Miami hospital. Lt. Ignatius Carroll said emergency responders were dispatched at 12:32 a.m on April 2 and that they were summoned by police, who already were at the hotel suite.
Sources familiar with the incident said one of the players placed the original calls – two of them – to police. When police arrived, they became concerned with the woman’s frame of mind and they called Miami Fire Rescue, which handles the city’s EMT service.
The police investigation began April 3, when the woman arrived at the Miami Police Department at 9:40 p.m. She told police that about 48 hours earlier she arrived at a suite at the upscale Viceroy hotel, made drinks for the players and that they told her in order to drink with them “she had to ‘hit’ the bong, which contained marijuana.”
Perhaps, it is now believed that the alleged victim had consumed unreasonable amount of alcohol and marijuana. So far no charges have been filed regarding the incident according to a statement by the Miami police. As of now the police department is waiting for medical and toxicology tests to come back on the alleged 25-year-old victim. We all must wait for the truth to come out as this story continues to unfold.
