A little over a year ago on Valentine’s Day a horrible story came out in South Africa whereas the 26-year-old six-times paralympic gold medalist and the first double amputee to compete in the Olympics at 2012, Oscar Pistorius, allegedly shot and killed his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, after mistaking her for a burglar at the couple`s home. Strangely, Pistorius claimed he accidentally mistake her for an intruder but shot her multiple times: four times in the head and arm. Local police arrived at the scene discovering a 9mm handgun and a deceased body. Pistorius was immediately taken into custody and charged with murder. Since then, the athlete known as “Blade Runner” admits firing four shots through a locked bathroom door and insisted he acted in self-defense after mistaking Steenkamp for an intruder. A lot of unresolved questions will begin to be answered on Monday, March 3, when Pistorius, 27, goes on trial on a charge of premeditated murder. Prosecutors are saying Pistorius intentionally shot Steenkamp, 29, in the couple’s bathroom on Valentine’s Day in 2013 during a heated argument. Pistorius also faces three firearms charges and if convicted he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
